Yesterday, FreshWater Cleveland posted a number of Local Job Openings. Thanks to Freshwater for sharing. I hope this will be helpful to those of you who may be looking for a new job.

Additionally, don’t forget that the State of Ohio has a special COVID-19 job site that has a number of job openings with immediate needs.

For those applying for Unemployment Benefits, Ohio Job and Family Services has grown their team processing unemployment claims in the state to 20 times from where it was before the COVID-19 outbreak and stay-at-home order, Lt. Gov. John Husted announced on Thursday. I realize that many people remain frustrated about wait times and even getting through. The State continues to try to improve response times so please be patient and keep trying.

While the Senior Center remains closed, Cleveland Heights seniors need not feel alone. Social workers are available by phone at 216-691-7377 for information and referral, and food issues are being addressed with new programming. Staff are managing the phones so feel free to leave a message and your call will be returned.

Just a reminder, as we are all out enjoying time in our yards, lawn bags are currently not being collected on your regularly scheduled refuse/recycling pickup day. Lawn bags will be picked up at the same time that your loose leaves are collected between March 30 and April 27. Check the Collection Map for your currently scheduled pickup days.

Yesterday, Cleveland Heights Police and Fire had the great pleasure of helping celebrate the 7th birthday of a young resident named Patrick of Elmwood Road. Friends and family gathered around as CHPD and CHFD staged a parade to his house and used one of their robots to present Patrick with a birthday gift (doing their part in social distancing). Patrick recently lost his father, and his grandfather called the CHPD to ask if they could help Patrick celebrate. We are so pleased that we could help Patrick celebrate his special day and maybe even make it a happier birthday.

Today, our Police and Fire Department’s were at it again. Monroe Dancy of Bluestone Road celebrated her 8th birthday today and Cleveland Heights Finest and Bravest once again helped make it a special day.

For those of you missing visits to our many world-renowned museums, visit the Cleveland Museum of Art to explore many of their exhibits and on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays at 12 noon for virtual activities at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History.

Be safe this weekend and continue to do your part to eliminate this current health crisis - stay at home, social distance, wash hands regularly.
