Income Tax
Cleveland Heights municipal income tax is collected by the Regional Income Tax Agency (also known as R.I.T.A.), a nonprofit governmental agency.
Who Must File Tax Returns
- Full- and part-year residents age 18 and older*
- Businesses operating within the city
- Property owners who receive rental income
- Non-resident employees within the city whose employer did not withhold taxes for Cleveland Heights
•Exemption: Individuals with only non-taxable income (E.G. Social Security, pensions, interest or dividends) must file an annual Declaration of Exemption rather than a tax return.
In November 2015, Cleveland Heights voters approved a .25% increase to the income tax rate. Effective 1/1/2016 the Tax Rate will be 2.25%.
