Loose Leaf Collection
Collection of loose leaves will begin on Monday,
November 2 and will continue until Friday,
December 4, weather permitting.
It is the City's intention to collect loose leaves
from each property once every other week on
the day after your regularly scheduled refuse
collection day. However, if one day's collection is
light and another day's heavy, the leaf pick-up
day may have to be changed.
Please
note that this year, there will be no Saturday
collection.
Before November 2 and after December 4,
leaves will be collected weekly only when placed
in paper lawn bags and set out with your regular
refuse and recyclables.
Don't place leaves and yard waste in plastic
bags, as the plastic contaminates the entire load
of material and won't be accepted by the
composting facility.
Let's hope for good weather, because if it snows
during the leaf collection season, it becomes
nearly impossible to maintain the collection
schedule. The same workers and many of the
same vehicles collecting leaves are also used for
snow and ice control.
A few reminders:
- Rake or blow your leaves to your tree lawn for
collection between November 2 and December
4.
- Do not rake leaves into the street where they
become a safety hazard or block storm
drains.
- If placing leaves in paper lawn bags, be sure to
put them on your tree lawn no earlier than 7:00
pm the evening before the day of your collection,
but always before 7:00 am on the collection
day.
If you have any questions concerning leaf, refuse
or recycling pick-up, call Public Works at 216-
691-7300.
