City Council Passes Ordinance Amending the 2009 Budget
On Monday, July 6, 2009, Cleveland Heights City Council passed Ordinance Number 59 - 2009, which amended the 2009 budget. The 2009 budget has been reduced by $2,834,702. This has been accomplished by cuts in personnel expenses - no raises for 2009 and a mandated two-week furlough (two weeks unpaid) for all non-union employees. (Please note that since 2003, 97 full-time equivalent positions have been eliminated). Regarding operating expenses: every Department made significant reductions.
