Cleveland Heights Update on the Stimulus Funds
The City of Cleveland Heights has submitted a
variety of projects for consideration for the
Stimulus Funds that will be allocated to Ohio
cities. Projects are submitted under various
categories:
Infrastructure:
1. North Taylor Road Rehabilitation
2. Monticello Boulevard Rehabilitation
3. North Quilliams Area Water Main
Replacement
4. Monmouth Road Sanitary Sewer
Improvements
5. Cedar Lee Streetscape in cooperation with
NOACA as part of the Transportation of Livable
Communities Initiative
6. Cedar-Fairmount Transportation for Livable
Communities project
Energy and Environment:
An Energy Conservation Performance Project will
address energy efficiency in City facilities,
including City Hall, recreational buildings and the
City’s water delivery system.
Crime and Public Safety:
A beat patrol officer initiative that would fund ten
officers over a two-year period. Their primary
responsibilities would be in the commercial
districts.
In addition, a COPS Hiring Recovery Program
application has been submitted to
COPS.usdoj.gov. (Visit recovery.Ohio.gov
for more information on the State of Ohio stimulus
funds.)
The City has already been awarded the
following:
1. Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP) –
$2.3 million in funds to renovate or demolish
homes that are in certain areas that meet
eligibility requirements of HUD.
2. Homeless Prevention Funds – $715,677 has
been awarded. However, these HUD funds must
be used in conjunction with the Cuyahoga County
Continuum of Care and can only be used for
renters.
3. The City has been notified by the Department
of Energy that we have been awarded
$182,300. However, the complete criteria and an
application have not yet been released.
