Please note the following concerning the holiday refuse collection schedule:
The City has new refuse and recycling holiday collection procedures. Saturday pick-ups have been eliminated. City crews will work a double shift on the Fridays following a holiday. If a holiday is observed on a Friday, collection will take place a day early on Thursday.
Holiday Collection Schedules
The City of Cleveland Heights is closed for the following holidays:
- New Year's Day - January 1
- Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day - third Monday in January
- Presidents' Day - third Monday in February
- Memorial Day - last Monday in May
- Independence Day
- Labor Day - first Monday in September
- Veterans Day - November 11
- Thanksgiving Day - last Thursday in November
- Christmas Day - December 25
Please note: Columbus Day is NOT a City holiday.
When a holiday is observed on a Monday:
- Residents whose refuse and recyclables are normally collected on Monday will have collection on Tuesday.
- Residents whose refuse and recyclables are normally collected on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday will be collected one day later than normal.
- Tuesday will be collected on Wednesday,
- Wednesday will be collected on Thursday,
- Thursday will be collected on Friday, and
- FRIDAY’S ROUTE WILL BE COLLECTED ON FRIDAY. City crews will work a double route that day.
When a holiday is observed on a Tuesday:
- Residents whose refuse and recyclables are normally collected on Monday will have collection on Monday of the holiday week.
- Residents whose refuse and recyclables are normally collected on Tuesday will have collection on Wednesday.
- Residents whose refuse and recyclables are normally collected on Wednesday and Thursday will be collected one day later than normal.
- Residents whose refuse and recyclables are normally collected on Friday will be collected as usual. FRIDAY’S ROUTE WILL BE COLLECTED ON FRIDAY. City crews will work a double route that day.
When a holiday is observed on a Wednesday:
- Residents whose refuse and recyclables are normally collected on Monday and Tuesday will have collection on their regular collection day of the week in which the holiday occurs.
- Residents whose refuse and recyclables are normally collected on Wednesday and Thursday will be collected one day later than normal.
- Wednesday's route will be collected on Thursday,
- Thursday's route will be collected on Friday, and
- FRIDAY’S ROUTE WILL BE COLLECTED ON FRIDAY. City crews will work a double route that day.
When a holiday is observed on a Thursday:
- Residents whose refuse and recyclables are normally collected on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday will have collection on their regular collection day of the week in which the holiday occurs.
- Residents whose refuse and recyclables are normally collected on Thursday will have their collection delayed one day for that week.
- Thursday's route will be collected on Friday, and
- FRIDAY’S ROUTE WILL BE COLLECTED ON FRIDAY. City crews will work a double route that day.
When a holiday is observed on a Friday:
- Residents whose refuse and recyclables are normally collected on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday will have collection on their regular collection day of the week in which the holiday occurs.
- Residents whose refuse and recyclables are normally collected on FRIDAY WILL HAVE COLLECTION ON THURSDAY, ONE DAY EARLY.
PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING UPCOMING CHANGES:
- Christmas Day 2010 falls on a Saturday. City Hall will be closed on Friday December 24. Monday through Thursday routes will remain the same. Collection for the Friday route will take place on Thursday, December 23.
- News Year’s Day 2011 is on a Saturday. City Hall will be closed on Friday, December 31. Monday through Thursday routes will remain the same. Collection for the Friday route will take place on Thursday, December 30.
