Citizens Police Academy

Goals

The Cleveland Heights Police Department wants to develop an improved understanding of its residents; and The Police Department wants its residents to have an improved understanding of its police department and its operations. It is the goal of the Police Department to keep and maintain a relationship with graduates of the Citizens Police Academy.

The goal is to for police department employees to interact with and educate a group of well-informed Citizens regarding Cleveland Heights police procedures, investigations and operations - and to foster a deeper understanding between police officers and members of the community.

Instruction

Instructors are highly trained law enforcement professionals who regularly teach both veteran police officers and police recruits. The Citizens Police Academy lasts six weeks, and upon successfully completing the program, graduates will become members of the Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association and continue their relationship with the Cleveland Heights Police Academy and the Cleveland Heights Police Department.
